Q. How old do I have to be to join Air Cadets?

A. You are eligible to join if you are in Year 8 or above and aged 12 or older.  You are not eligible to join if you are aged 17 or older.

Q. Is there a cost?

A. Yes.  Our current subscription is £12 per month per cadet.  There are also additional costs for some other activities, and overnight activities – these can be variable since some activities are funded by the RAF, but others are not.  We try to keep the costs as low as possible, and we also run fundraising events to subsidise the activities.

Q. What should I do if I want to join?

A. You can either phone us, you could send us a message through our contact page, or you can just come along one night to have a look around and talk to the staff.

Q. When does the squadron meet each week?

A. The squadron meets on a Wednesday and Thursday night, from 7.00pm to 9.30pm

Q. Do I have to attend both nights?

A. You don’t have to attend both nights, though you may miss out on some of the activities that occur when you aren’t there.

Q. Is unform provided?

A. Cadets are provided with two uniforms to wear for different activities.  The “Blue” uniform is supplied by the RAF, and the “Green” uniform is provided by the squadron.  The uniform is provided on loan, and must be returned when you leave the squadron.

Not all items are provided, and you will have to purchase your own:

  • uniform parade shoes
  • socks/tights
  • black/brown boots
